About the Artist

Arlene Zachmann - Biography

For Arlene Zachmann, every painting begins with a moment.

Arlene is an 88-year-old artist, devoted reader, mother, grandmother, and lifelong learner. She draws inspiration from a life rich with relationships, reflection, love, loss, and discovery. She believes that a life is ultimately the sum of its experiences, and through her paintings she seeks to capture the moments—both ordinary and extraordinary—that leave their mark on us.

Based in Miami and spending summers in Maryland, Arlene continues to create work that celebrates beauty, resilience, gratitude, and the enduring wonder of being alive.

Arlene began drawing and painting after a thirty year career as an educator.

Arlene lived and worked in education across New York, California and Virginia. A move to the beautiful Eastern Shore of Maryland eventually inspired her to begin the journey of creating art. The Impressionist painters are her inspiration as well as several contemporary artists who have been her instructors and mentors: Katie Cassidy, Nancy Tankersley, Matthew Hillier, Bernard Dellario.

Arlene studied art at The Academy of Art, Easton, MD and attended numerous workshops with nationally known artists. Her paintings have been exhibited in a galltery in St. Michaels, Maryland. Arlene has received numerous awards in local art shows and exhibits. She is a member of the Miami Art League, The Academy of Art, The St. Michaels Art League, and The Alexandria Art League.
